The Image Works
Oxford University Press Project
Through their project with Oxford University Press, this Alberta based production company not only created an amazing multimedia tool for educating the leaders of tomorrow, they showed environmental leadership themselves by offsetting with us to ensure they found their carbon balance.
The Image Works Alberta in cooperation with Oxford University Press recently developed two interactive websites for Alberta Education to be used in the new social studies curriculum for Alberta schools. The production of these web based learning objects required travel through the world to obtain global perspectives for the students to better understand the concepts of nationalism and ideology for grades eleven and twelve.
The choice to offset the footprint of the project's travel was clear to Producer/Director Douglas Cole, who notes that, "We felt it important to set an example for students and offset this extensive travel footprint through the Carbon Farmer."
This partnership, based on the air and vehicle travel of the production, balanced 33 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, which translates to the planting and care of more than 105 trees that have been growing in Dad's Forest since 2007.
Douglas, who made the eco-conscious choice to offset is passionate about his decision, "We feel it's imperative to mitigate as much as possible the coming climate change. The key is the rapidity of this climate change and projects such as The Carbon Farmer will help slow that rapid change. We face huge obstacles in saving this planet’s ecosystems and their associated values. The die is cast for a deep and troublesome progression of an ever warming climate. Initiatives like The Carbon Farmer are desperately needed to help lower the speed of that change."
Founded in February 1985, The Image Works has been actively producing for private, corporate and government organizations.
